BA, MBA, Masters in Counseling

Parental and Family Consultant

Lisa is a Parental and Family Consultant, who works with clients virtually via Skype and teleconferencing.  She is an experienced group facilitator and clinician in both inpatient and outpatient alcohol and substance abuse treatment. She recently completed all educational and experiential requirements as an MFTI, and plans to become licensed by fall 2012.

Lisa graduated magna cum laude from Seton Hall University, where she received a Master of Arts in Counseling degree, and Syracuse University, where she earned BA and MBA degrees.

She is the author of Lost, Found and Forgiven: How One Mother Prevailed Against Teenage Rage and Brought Her Daughter Home Again.  Lisa's book chronicles her deeply personal and protracted struggle with a self-destructive teenager and provides the context for her practice.  It was this profound experience that motivated Lisa to leave her career as president of a credit union to help other parents.

Lisa is currently writing a second book, to be published late in 2012, which details her approach to working with parents. She founded and trademarked Parental Centering™, a therapeutic protocol which helps parents of crisis‐ driven adult children regain control of their lives. Parents learn skills to move from reactionary and emotionally charged responses towards systematic, rational responses. In doing so, parents will make decisions that are more consistent with the goals and boundaries they have set in advance based on their core values, rather than react to the chaotic world of their child.

In her previous career, Lisa was also a Controller with Electronic Arts and a financial analyst with General Electric.  She is the mother of two adult children and has been married to her high school sweetheart for over thirty years.

It is this combination of clinical, parental and executive experience that Lisa calls upon to provide a truly unique and powerful connection to individuals and families in distress.
